This library closed February 1st, 2016 by Sarasota County due to alleged mold problem (even though their own environmental report stated that there were no imminent health threats and all mold and bacteria were well within guidelines). Thousands of Venice residents protested this abrupt closure by signing petitions and speaking out at public meetings (held AFTER it was decided to close) but to no avail.
An outstanding researcher I called at Venice Library located the title of a book about the I had been searching for months to find. I knew only the author's name but that was enough for the researcher to find the title. Once I had that it was easy enough to find the book on Amazon. For a rather smallish library, they seem to have a good collection of contemporary titles too.
The hours are funky.Bankers hours, if the banker slept late!
